Joe Root Looking For Another Sweet Performance At Kandy

England captain Joe Root believes England will go into the second Test against Sri Lanka at Kandy on Wednesday with “huge amounts of confidence” after overcoming the hosts in Galle. “We played some really good stuff,” Root said after the commanding 211-run victory. “The way we played throughout the four days, with everyone contributing and playing a part, is really pleasing. We said we were going to do things slightly differently at the start of the series and we’ve really backed that up and given ourselves a really good chance to go to Kandy with a lot of confidence and back up what’s been a brilliant four-days here,” Root further added said.

England got off to a shaky start in Galle, losing five wickets for just 103 runs, with debut opener Rory Burns back in the pavilion for nine, Moeen Ali out first ball and Ben Stokes gone for seven.

But from lunch onwards, England were in the driving seat, not least due to debutant Ben Foakes’s 107 — making him man of the match — and with valuable contributions from Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid.

Sri Lanka were then bundled out for 203, with Ali getting four wickets for 66 and fellow spinners Jack Leach and Rashid taking two apiece, giving the hosts a 139-run first-innings lead.

Keaton Jennings then made an overdue return to form in England’s second innings with an assured 146 not out, allowing Root to declare set Sri Lanka an enormous target of 462.

They were all out for 250 and Ali took four wickets for the second time in the match, ably assisted by Leach who took three and by Stokes with aggressive, chin-high seam bowling.

“We had some clear plans about the way we were going to approach this game in particular on this surface. To see them work, to see the hard work leading into the game pay off, is great,” Root said.

“The way we played in the summer (beating a visiting Indian side 4-1) was a sign of this team moving forward and we’ve really backed that up in this performance,” he said.

“It’s very difficult to win Test matches abroad now. I think that makes it even sweeter when you do come to a very difficult venue, like Galle, and manage to win games. Hopefully we can build on this and it’s not just a one-off for us.”

“Kind beautiful man, your pure love is such a gift #daddysgirl,” Hudson captioned the post, along with two heart emojis.

The sweet video is imbued with an ethereal vintage quality — due to a retro film filter and the emotional background track, Patty Griffin’s “You Are Not Alone” — and shows Fujikawa delicately cradling his little girl in his lap as he gently strokes her fine hair and gazes into her eyes.

Hudson certainly hasn’t been shy about sharing photos of her baby on Instagram. After announcing Rani’s birth, she posted the first pic of her precious bundle of joy three days later.

Mandy Moore and ex Wilmer Valderrama reunite, pose for sweet photo

Mandy Moore and Wilmer Valderrama prove that exes can still be friends, even years after calling it quits.

The former couple reunited over the weekend at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Pacific Palisades, California. Valderrama was pictured planting a kiss on Moore’s cheek in a selfie. Another photo posted on jewelry designer Anita Ko’s Instagram Stories shows Moore putting her arm around the “That ‘70s Show” actor while flashing her engagement ring from fiancé Taylor Goldsmith.

“Friends forever,” the photo was captioned.

Moore and Valderrama dated from 2000 to 2002 before calling it quits. Their friendship hit a rough patch when Valderrama told Howard Stern in 2006 that he took Moore’s virginity.

“The sex with Mandy was good, but it wasn’t like warm apple pie,” Valderrama said on the radio show.

Moore then told Elle that Valderrama’s comment was “utterly tacky, not even true, and it hurt my feelings because I like him.”

She addressed the incident again in June when she appeared on the Howard Stern show. Moore said Valderrama didn’t take her virginity.

“He’s a very good friend and that’s why I was so shocked by it because not only was it a fib, but it was so unlike him, it was so uncharacteristic,” the “This Is Us” actress told Stern.

She added that she called Valderrama after the 2006 comment.

“He tried to explain it away, that sort of, he did get caught up, he maybe insinuated more than outright said it,” Moore recalled. “No, you outright said it.”

In the clip posted on Instagram, Stefani, 48, and Shelton, 42, are sitting in a tour bus while the country crooner serenades his lady love with his song “Turnin’ Me On.”

“This is my song. Written for me OK, just so you know that. It’s crazy,” a happy and smiling Stefani says to the camera.

The pair appeared to have taken a little break from posting about each other on their social media in recent months. Stefani’s last post about her beloved beau was in July. “Oh hi cuteness ❤️@Blakeshelton gx,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white throwback of “The Voice” judge.

Earlier in the summer, the couple and Stefani’s three kids enjoyed some family time in Oklahoma.
